Time to polish skills

Just as the year comes to an end and after working many long days at SUGARfx, I have been able to start learning new and exciting tools that are addictive.

One of them is Nuke, and thanks to Studio Arts I am able to sneak out tuesday nights to get hooked and “nuked”. I am really enjoying this application and Damian Allen (Pixerati.com) is quite an amazing instructor.

Model Ear Ring

Two other apps that I am getting into are Mudbox and ZBrush. These are not only cool applications but powerful and amazingly friendly to use. I finally can say that I am in love with organic modeling, and here is a sample of some of the things I’ve been doing while learning on my own in the last 3 weeks. ( Oh, by the way, while browsing the internet I found ZBrush Workshops is an amazing site to learn ZBrush with great bonus information about anatomy ).

Zynga Mobile

Working in tandem with my friend and colleague Eduardo Slesaransky, I animated and composited 3d and video elements to produce a sizzle promo for Zynga Mobile.

The 3d was done in Cinema 4D and composited in AE.

DMD Upfront International

Right before summer vacation I collaborated in the production of the yearly international presentation for DMD over at mOcean.

This project involved tons of green screen, many formats and talent shoots that needed to be composited and put together with shadows and color correction.

The 3d was done in Cinema 4D and the compositing in AE.

TLC Summer – Grfx

The following samples show some of the 3d models, renderings and compositing in AE while working in tandem with other colleagues at mOcean. Some of the camera moves and animations were setup previously and the newly created 3d environments had to fit-in accordingly.

Filmmakingwebinars.com

I am really excited to be participating on a webinar this coming June 16 in which I will be talking about some tips and techniques that I’ve learned through my own experience as a Broadcast Designer when working between Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects CS5.5.

This is going to be a very exciting topic, and I hope many people will join us, since it is a free webinar.

Light Pack 2.0 – Beta

I just finished working on a new updated version of a light flare plugin for SUGARfx.

This was released as a Beta by SUGARfx and can be found in their site.

Here is a tutorial I did for those people interested in using it in the beta testing program. Check it out!

Copa Libertadores

While working at mOcean I animated this open in January, and as you can see I used the cloth engine in Cinema 4D 10.5 to do the multiple flags waving, which were composited in After Effects to achieve the desired effect and fake perspective.

Demo Reel 2008

This is the latest demo I have at this moment, and I am not sure how much free time I have to make a new one, so please enjoy this one in the mean time. Thanks.

This demo represents many projects in which I have participated and I was honored to have been working for talented studios such as: SiDiCOM, mOcean, 1K Studios, Warner Bros, Telepictures and others.

I was also fortunate to receiveĀ an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design ( IMDb ), and I thank all the people at Warner Brothers who gave me such opportunity to perform my best, specially to Jeffery Dunaj and Dave Otto for their creative support and guidance.

mOcean Reel – 3D Graphics

I had the opportunity and the privilege to work in the production of the 3d models, set, rigging and animation of the graphics for the demo at mOcean.

Most of the rigging and animation was setup using Xpresso to get the mechanical feel and making a complex setup easy to animate with just a few sliders.

It was a pleasure working under the art direction of Craig Olreich who had a wonderful vision of how the graphics should look. Here are some samples. Hope you like them.
